About Steve

Hi, I’m Steve Axtell. I’m Board Certified in Clinical Hypnotherapy and director of the Axtell Hypnotherapy Clinic in Lakewood, Colorado. It’s a tough job, because I’m the employee.

I have been involved in the mental health field for over 41 years (a really long time for a guy who looks so young).

I have worked with adolescents, and in the area of drug and alcohol rehabilitation and education.

For the past 17 years,my focus has been on using Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming to help people make rapid changes in unwanted habits, to overcome the blocks that hold them back in life, and to become healthier, happier, and to enjoy more relaxed and balanced lives.

I graduated from Baylor University in 1970 with a degree in Social Work with an emphasis on Counseling.

In 1974, I graduated from the U.S. Department of Defense Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation School, and in 1975, from the Rutgers University School of Alcohol Studies.

Weird how these schools are all made out of red brick.

I became certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming in 1994,  and I did extensive training in Hypnotherapy which lead to Certification with the American Board of Hypnotherapy and the National Guild of Hypnotists in 1997.

As a presenter and teacher, I have received invitations to give workshops and seminars internationally as well as across the U.S.

I have trained well over 500 people in the art and science of Hypnosis to date, and I (humbly) am regarded as one of the top Hypnosis trainers around. I am known for  lively presentations that are fun, entertaining, and educational. My workshops and seminars are designed to equip students with tools, skills, and confidence. The focus is always on practical application.

In my work with individual clients, I begin with the absolute belief that “no one is ‘broken’ and needs to be “fixed”. It’s simply that you haven’t been taught how to take control of your thoughts and emotions. You have a wealth of internal resources, and access to many external resources…more than enough to live a life that is rich and full. It’s just a matter of having the tools needed to tap into this vast reservoir of ability, capability, confidence and genius that resides within you.

I see my role as being more that of an educator than a “therapist”: I teach the skills necessary to overthrow past programming that doesn’t work , and then I help you to develop the ability to move forward in the directions that you want to go. It’s really about generating the skills to make choices and to create freedom in your life!

I enjoy working with clients from around the country, and with anyone anywhere who speaks English. Hypnotherapy is very effective over the phone.

I always provide a consultation at no cost, in order to determine if this approach is right for you. Please feel free to call me, and we can discuss your needs and how Hypnotherapy might be useful. I’m always happy to personally talk with you.

Call for an appointment now. I’ll get you in for a consultation as soon as I can.
